I get asked all the time “Matt Should You Use Work From Home Groups To Build Your MLM Business?”
And in particular networking groups, people looking for work, buy sell swap groups, and all those type of generic network marketing groups that you see all over Facebook.
Now the truth is they are super easy and simple place to share your opportunity.
You can definitely just dump your opportunity in there and if somebody comments, great, if not it doesn’t really cost you anything.
However here is the truth….
I wouldn’t be going into those groups expecting results. Those groups are full of spam, those groups are full of people who are already in business looking to recruit other individuals.
Those groups may have people who are looking for information and are looking for businesses, but are fed up of being spammed. By now they are probably sick, tired and doubt most of the junk posted on there.
So Facebook groups are definitely a great way to build your business IF YOU PLAY THE LONG GAME.
What I would say to you is, avoid the networking specific Facebook groups that are out there. Think outside the box, think hobbies, interests, and the type of people that you are looking to work with. More importantly think of stuff that you like to talk about or have knowledge in.
So if you’re a single mom, there’s a ton of single mom groups on Facebook.
If you’re a guy who loves to play golf, there’s a ton of Facebook groups for people who love to play golf.
If you love to cook, there’s a ton of cookery clubs on Facebook.
Knitting, singing, dancing or exercise, you get the message here right?
So the aim is to go in there and become a common face inside of these groups.
What does that mean? It means commenting and engaging, interacting with the people inside the group. Giving them feedback on posts or answering questions.
It’s not going in to post your opportunity, and it’s not going in to brag about your product, and it’s not going in to recruit people. You have to become known to people in there, this is how you’re building rapport and relationship with total strangers.
This is why it’s important to pick a group that you have good knowledge in, or more importantly something that you like to talk about.
See the thing is, inside of network marketing there’s people who love to play golf, there’s single moms, there’s people who cook, there’s people who love to knit so it really doesn’t matter what you pick.
What’s even more cool they’re not getting spammed this type of stuff because the people in the groups are talking about what the group is designed for specifically.
Once you put the work in and engage you’ll find people will start connecting with you on a personal level.
People will send you friend requests, people will connect, engage with you.
People will reach out and connect with you, maybe ask you questions, but they will connect with you a lot more comfortably. Mainly because they don’t look at you and feel like “hey, I’m just here just to recruit you,” .
It will be 10 times more powerful than a networking group because you’ve already spoke about an interest, you already have common ground and you already have something to progress your conversation or budding relationship on from day one. You have something in common.
Now you could lead that into a product, you could lead that into an opportunity, but the initial connection is done through networking, and networking done right. So if you are going to use Facebook groups think outside the box, think interests, think hobbies, and think of ways that you can connect and engage with the type of people that you would love to connect with, or people like yourself.
